Great furniture can make any place great – IKEA or not

As you may have noticed from the last few post, I finally moved out on my own recently.  This for one contributed to my recent lack of new posts on my blog after my resolve to get back on track with my writing “career”.  In my last post, I blamed my lack of production on the amount of cleaning and laboring due to the unhygenic regiments of the previous tenant who occupied the suite before me.  That is only part of the story.  As I learnt a long time ago, my productivity is extremely low when I do not have a good surface to work on.  Despite how seemingly wonderful and relaxed it looks in the movies, working with your laptop on your actual lap, or lying in bed while working will not help you get anything done.  It often leads to you standing and walking around to rid the discomfort of a metal box spewing out hot air onto your crotch, or you just fall asleep.

Thus my recent investment in a coffee table was well justified.  Four legs, large working area, and a beautiful espresso finish – only $20.00 from Walmart Canada.  I was very fortunate to have been able to take with me to my new home a set of bookcases from IKEA and a futon from a friend, but a work space has always been my biggest need.  As soon as I get the nigthstand in the bedroom that awaits me at the old house, I can take some measurements, and figure out whether I can fit a small computer desk in my room or not.  And if I can, then get ready for a few more before and after shots of the bedroom, and possibly the TV area once I get that entertainment console in there.
