MEN! MEN! MEN!
Watching Glengarry GlenRoss makes me want to become a sales man. I’ve done sales before, and I hated it. I am also pretty content with my current employment. Yet, there is something about ABC that makes me think I can be great. Then I remembered how much I hate interacting with people. And then I also remembered how much I hate pushing products on people. Then I realized I will be a terrible drug dealer should I ever consider the option.
More than anything else, the movie had a great cast. 4 of the main ensemble won the Academy Award, and two of them had been nominated for the golden statue. There really isn’t anything that can go wrong when you are watching a movie with Al Pacino, Kevin Spacey, Jonathan Pryce, Jack Lemmon, Alan Arkin, Ed Harris, and Alec Baldwin.
The two most notable performances in this movie came from Alec Baldwin and Al Pacino. Both were dramatic monologues that made me poop my pants. Alec Baldwin delivered lines that inspired Boiler Room and sitcom parodies in The Simpsons and Family Guy. These are lines that I’ve heard given to employees by retail managers.
Imagine being a boss and getting smacked down by one of your employees in front of the office. While that’s already embarrassing and a downer, imagine getting smacked down by Al Pacino in front of the office. If put in the situation, I am not sure whether I am will turn red, or stare at him in awe. It wasn’t a smack down through the display of hysteric rage. Rather, it’s raw intensity combined with eyes that spewed anger, like red flowing from a bursting volcano.
If you’ve seen the movie, watch it again. If you haven’t, buy the damn DVD. Not rent. BUY!
I saw this flick a while back, and I completely agree with you man. GO BUY THIS FLICK y’all!
