FRIDAY THE 13th X 11? 12? 13?!?!?!?!?

I really thought the new Friday the 13th would be some work of genius, and of course, I was so wrong. The incident reminds me of Bill Gates telling the world that 16KB of memory is sufficient enough for the world, and that no one will ever need more RAM than that. Or the time he announced SPAM would be obsolete in 5 years back in 1998. Colossal blunders from the mouths of geniuses, I guess that is the theme for today.

It’s not so much that the movie was not enjoyable.  As a matter of facts, the shocks were timely, and the movie even paid excellent homage to it’s original.  Not to mention that it had one of the best intros in quite some time.  Yet, the movie just didn’t make any sense at all.  Things that needed explaining were left out, and there must have been a lot cuts left on the floor, because the movie felt very very fragmented.

Just to be a total geek, I also disliked a few of the things the movie did to destroy the lore of Jason Vorhees.  Let’s just say his fear of water did not play any part to his character in the movie.  I know, talking about character structure in a slasher film is almost like looking for water in a desert, but I assure you that water has been found before, and it is something that should be strived to be found…in any genre of film.
