TAKEN AWAY
Well, it didn’t take me very long to realize that working in a freezer is not an ideal career choice for myself. Nevertheless, it was a good learning experience, and it just felt nice to be back in the work force. This morning, I officially removed myself once again from the pack and will head back to the drawing board in search for employment.
And of course, with unemployment, there comes free time, meaning once again I will be able to enjoy my movies, books, and video games. While it is an enjoyable life style, it is most certainly not a sustainable one. After the past grueling week, I’ve learnt to enjoy my time when I can, any chance I can get.
Watching Taken last night, it’s come to my attention that Liam Neeson really excels in playing roles of the protective fatherly figure. He played the part in Taken, again in Star Wars, and even in Batman Begins as Bruce Wayne’s mentor. His mixture of great acting, along with a fatherly appeal and the ability to turn up his intensity at the drop of a hat makes him an ideal choice for such roles. It is going to be exciting to see him play Abraham Lincoln in 2011.
The movie itself is one of the quickest paced movies I’ve watched in some time. From the start of the film, Liam Neeson’s character disarmed assailants and fought off multiple baddies. The action sequences only increased as the movies progressed, with multiple baddies, high speed car chases, and some interesting detective work.
What made this movie interesting to me was Liam Neeson’s character, a man who gave up a career he is very good at to spend more time with his daughter. Ironically, to save his daughter, he needed to resume the career he left behind. I also enjoyed that director Pierre Morel did not go for the cheap shocks with baddies suddenly getting up and reengaging Bryan (Neeson). Aside from adding a bit of realism to the movie, it also displayed just how deadly Bryan was, and how good he was at his job. In turn, it showed just how much Bryan wished to resume a relationship with his daughter, by showing how much he was willing to give up.
Wow, dude! Great review on Taken with Liam Neeson. I haven’t seen the movie myself, but going from your review, I definitely need to go check it out. Also I didn’t realized that he was going to play Abraham Lincoln, this is great news because as you stated Liam Neeson would be the perfect role.
